Box Office/Plug, Fawkes Edition
A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas gets sandbagged, released a whole two months earlier than the real Christmas. I wrote about that movie on ANOMALOUS MATERIAL. As much as I disliked it I can’t help but feel sorry for this kind of bad timing for the movie. I don’t even know if this movie’s going to stay in theatres when snow starts falling to the ground. And it’s not like we won by letting a mediocre movie fail financially.
The leaders at the box office for this fall have either been horrors like Contagion and Paranormal Activity 3 or kids stuff like Lion King 3D, Real Steel and the past weekend’s winner, Puss in Boots. But let’s look at what the studios will be releasing during Christmas. Some are fitting like War Horse, We Bought a Zoo, a movie about an animated racist French guy and a movie about a kid dealing with 9/11. Stranger releases that week release include Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, a movie called The Darkest Hour and the remake of that Swedish movie about rape. Writing those makes me wonder what book I’m going to read next month.
